Tipping Point - Powering the Climate Justice Movement

Young people should not be made responsible to 'fix the climate'. Instead, we want to support them in their struggle for a habitable planet. How? With funding, training, campaigns and a network. Together with young climate activists, we create a space wherein the climate justice movement can grow, become more inclusive, diverse and stronger.

The Climate Crisis is unjust

The climate crisis affects millions of people every single day, especially in countries of the Global Majority. That is why we demand climate justice, right now. It is unjust that (historical) greenhouse gas emissions have been disproportionally caused by the Global Minority. It is unfair that people in the Global Majority must deal with most of its consequences, like the aftermath of extreme weather events.

Moreover, civic space is shrinking in many countries. Many climate justice activists and land rights defenders are facing violence and increasingly do not feel safe to mobilize or be critical towards those in power. This needs to change.

Our Theory of Change

We believe youth movements have the right to rise up to the challenges of the climate crisis, yet they are often overlooked and under-supported. Therefore, we want to support them in their struggle for a habitable planet. Our Theory of Change shows how by funding, training, campaigns and a network. 

We work with youth-led climate movements and individual young climate activists. Our goal is to foster strong and inclusive youth-led climate movements that are powered to fight, campaign and work towards climate justice.

Eindelijk goed klimaatnieuws: een eerste stap naar een wereld zonder fossiele brandstoffen

Na jaren van moeizame onderhandelingen en uitstel lijkt er eindelijk beweging te komen in het meest gevoelige punt van het wereldwijde klimaatdebat: het uitfaseren van fossiele brandstoffen. Tijdens een internationale conferentie in Santa Marta, Colombia namen tientallen landen een eerste, gezamenlijke stap richting een eerlijke energietransitie. Nog voorzichtig en deels vrijblijvend, maar vooral ook hoopgevend: fossiel staat eindelijk expliciet op de agenda.

Een eerlijke strijd tegen klimaatverandering

De klimaatcrisis is allesbehalve rechtvaardig. Armere landen worden harder getroffen dan rijkere, wat de wereldwijde ongelijkheid vergroot. Ondertussen eisen steeds meer mensen actie, maar is de straat opgaan niet voor iedereen vanzelfsprekend. Daarom strijden wij voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid: een eerlijke klimaatoplossing waarbij iedere stem wordt gehoord, zeker die van de mensen die het hardst worden getroffen door de klimaatcrisis.

Klimaatactivist Marinel maakt de Filipijnen groener

Tienduizenden doden, miljoenen mensen ontheemd: tien jaar geleden richtte supertyfoon Haiyan een spoor van vernieling aan op de Filipijnen. Ook de toen 16-jarige Marinel Sumook Ubaldo raakte ontheemd. Zij zag haar land lijden onder de steeds zwaardere klappen van de klimaatcrisis en liet het er niet bij zitten. Als klimaatactivist strijdt zij nu voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid. ‘Ik wil dat mijn kinderen niet lijden onder tyfoons zoals Haiyan. Dat ze niet bang hoeven te zijn om te leven en te dromen. Daar vecht ik voor.’
