Access to Land
Land is a precious commodity. Small-scale producers rely on it to grow food. But as competition for land increases, powerful interests are acquiring vast tracts for other purposes and local people are losing out. This is why Oxfam Novib supports land rights as a key component of our sustainable livelihoods program.
Pro-poor value chains
Oxfam Novib’s purpose is to contribute to the empowerment of rural communities in negotiating better prices for their products, better work conditions, and more relevant services by taking a holistic approach to value chains.
GROW campaign
Oxfam’s GROW campaign works for the billions of us who eat food and for the more than one billion men and women who grow it. Through addressing inequality as a key to claiming power, Oxfam’s GROW campaign makes it possible for communities to grow or buy enough food now and in the future.
Access to Water
Infrastructural development, agricultural expansion, industrialization and urbanization lead to environmental degradation and increased competition for natural resources. Climate change is further aggravating the situation with erratic rainfall, and worsening floods and droughts.
SD=HS
Sowing Diversity = Harvesting Security (SD=HS) contributes to the empowerment of resource disadvantaged communities. The program aims to develop capacities and supports communities to claim their rights. This enables people to manage biodiversity in the context of adapting to climate change.
